The Boys and the Things They Say

Yesterday I was going to Jim's with the boys like every Wednesday night. We were at a stop light and I look over to the car next to us and there was a really cute guy next to us. I, of course, commented on the good lookin boy next to us.
Damon says, "What did you say?"
"I said that guy next to us is cute."
"And what about Daddy?"
"Daddy's cute, so is that guy." At this point the light turns green and we are driving down the road towards Jim's office.
"That guy better not be following us or I'm going to be mad."
"He's not following us."
"He better not be, because if I see you kissing him I'm going to be mad!"
"I'm not kissing anyone but Daddy, don't you worry about that."
"You better not be."

It was too funny...the little guy is protective of Daddy.

Last night I had to do all the taxes for Jim's office. So it was taking forever and at 9:30 I realize I'm not going to be done anytime soon so I ask Jim to take the boys home so they can go to bed. As Jim is taking them home, Xavier begins asking him some questions about Grandpa Little, who works in Jim's office a couple hours a day.
"Jim, how is Don?"
"Don? You mean your Grandpa Don?"
"Yes Jim, How is he?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Well I haven't seen him in awhile."
"He is doing good."
"Oh, good."

He's too funny.

Wizard of Oz

Tonight, Adam had a meeting in Salina. And I thought it was the perfect opportunity to watch The Wizard of Oz with the boys. I had taped it a month before and had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to watch it with Damon and Xavier.

So I tell the boys what we were going to watch and they were not too excited at first. But I start to tell them about it, a young girl with a dog, befriends a scarecrow, a man made out of tin, and a lion. It has all these bright colors, a mean witch that has green skin. So they start to get excited about watching it.

Surprisingly the first 20 minutes of black and white didn't bother them, which I found funny because I remember being bored with the black and white. Then the color happens and they get so into it. At first they were scared of the witch but they calmed down about that. Then they fell in love with the scarecrow, tinman, and of course the lion. They were laughing so hard about the lion.

They both loved the movie. It was so fun to watch a movie with my boys that I remember watching as a little girl with my mom.

I must say, my little boys are too smart for their own good. In the beginning of the movie when Dorothy is hit in the head and falls on the bed, Xavier turns to me and says, "Oh, its going to be a dream." Then after the movie when it returns back to black and white he says, "See I told you, it was a dream."

Damon also figured out that the people Dorothy met in Oz were people from her life.

I don't even remember when I first figured these things out, but I'm pretty sure I wasn't 4 and 6.

Our 10th Anniversary

Adam and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary tonight. It is slightly hard to believe that it has been 10 years. Sometimes it feels like we just met and other times like we have been together forever. Our originial plan was to go on a cruise to Mexico along with 4 of his brothers and their spouses, and his parents. BUT we decided to have a baby instead (actually a high power decided that but that is just a minor detail). So we cancelled the cruise and just went out to dinner.

Adam's friend, Noah, opened a restaurant titled, della Voce. It is so yummy good. I could eat there everyday. Noah gave us dessert for free. I ordered cheesecake, the best cheesecake I've ever had in my life.

Surprisingly, Bill Murray, actor and comedienne, was in town and stopped in for dinner and drinks. We left the man alone, unlike others, but it was funny to see a celebrity, especially a BIG celebrity in Manhattan, KS
Adam gave me flowers, which I haven't had flowers in years so that was a nice surprise. I gave him a ring he had picked out that is titanium.

FHE

We always have FHE with Adam's parents on Sunday night. We take turns doing dinner and having a lesson or a game. Because it is on Sunday after church and everything, we are usually all in our pjs except Adam...he never wears pjs. When the parents came to the house in their pjs, Adam's mom walked in and said something like, "We are here in our pjs, are you in yours?" Well none of us were for the first time ever. So we commented on that. Then Damon says, "Its not a sleepover." Then of course the boys run upstairs and change into pjs.

Tonight Xavier did the lesson and Damon picked out a game for us to play. Xavier taught us about Jesus healing the Blind man. Adam was helping him tell the story. He ended by saying, "So if you can't see, call Jesus." He is too funny and sweet.

After we played charades with Damon's new game he got on Christmas. They were simple words but funny to act out, especially the boys.

We ended with Adam's Mom reading us what she wrote the day after we were married. She also read what she wrote about when the boys were born.

Happy 2008!

Damon had to pee so we had to pull over...it was just too funny.

Today we spent time with my family. Every year my Dad and Lois host a Black-Eyed Pea dinner. It is usually the only time we see my aunts and uncles, cousins, 2nd cousins, anyone else that could possibly be related to me.

This is also the time that we sit and talk with my cousins (who are about 10+ years older then me) and talk about many different things. Topics usually range from religion and family things. Today we talked about politics...we have never done this before. We talked about the upcoming presidential elections, gay marriage, the war in iraq, etc etc. Shockingly we never got heated, never got angry, anything like that, and we all came from different view points. It was rather interesting...shocking actually.

Tonight on the way home, Damon was quite the talker. For some reason he is usually this way on the way home from El Dorado. As we were getting closer to Manhattan he started looking at the stars in the sky and asking questions. He said, "I think one is Heavenly Father, one is Jesus, and one is the Holy Ghost. All the others are angels." Is he the sweetest or what?
