Miniature Golf

Every summer I try to make a list of thing we should do during the summer, the boys give their two cents and then we kinda go from there of different activities to do.  Every year Damon wants to go miniature golfing.  (I'm not sure why because our little golf course here isn't very exciting.)

The week before school started we finally made it to the little putt-putt and did our annual mini golf trip.  The boys had a lot of fun, I was totally exhausted after chasing Grayson the whole time.  I did get a hole in one on the very first hole though.

First Day(s) of School

Tuesday, Damon and Xavier started school.  They were so excited, they love school.  It helped that they both got the teachers they wanted and they have some of their favorite friends in their class too.

Aiden wanted his pictures taken too...

Wednesday was Aiden's first day of Preschool.  It is the same school/class that he had last year as well.  Most of his past classmates moved on to Kindergarten so there is only one or two other kids that he knows.  But he loves school too and was very excited that it was his turn to go to school.  We have talked about it all summer and sometimes he would ask to drive by his school.

TOTO Run

My husband likes to run...a lot.  One of his favorite races that he runs in every year is a trail ultra marathon (26+ miles) that starts at 11pm.  He has ran it twice now and his brother in TX always comes up to do it too.  Well this year it looked like the race wasn't going to happen so they planned there own.

Ben designed a logo and we decided to do a whole Wizard of Oz theme since their plan was to run from our house to Wamego and then back to their friend Todd's house.  So it would be a 50K (around 31 miles).

The logo Ben made.  TOTO stands for Trek Overnight To Oz.

Here are the medals I made, I used a Wizard of Oz Christmas ornament with rainbow ribbon I found at Hobby Lobby.  I even sewed them to look like the other marathon medals.

Here they are wrapped, we designated a character from the movie for each guy.  Adam was the tinman, Ben was the scarecrow, Jamie (Ben's friend) was the lion and Clay (Adam's boss) was the Wizard.
All the boys before the run, Clay, Jamie, Adam, Ben and Todd.  Todd didn't run, he was the crew member that took care of them.  (He got a flying monkey bobble head for his hard work.)

My favorite part was the next day as Adam was making phone calls he referred to his 31 mile race as "a little run".

Mother of the Year

Thanks to television my kids have been asking to go to Chuck E Cheese for YEARS!  And I always thought we would do it sometime when we were in Wichita but it just never happened.  So I decided this summer we would make a little trek over to Topeka to go to Chuck E Cheese.  Last Wednesday we went and I have to admit it wasn't terrible.  In fact, it was actually kinda fun.

We got there about an hour after they opened and there was just us and another small group (looked like 2 moms with their kids).  I had a coupon for 120 tokens for a good price and so each boy got 30 tokens a piece.  Every game was just 1 token, it took us about an hour and a half to go through them all.  Aiden and Grayson mostly rode rides like this...
While Damon and Xavier played games to get the most tickets they could get.  They also had some photobooths and sketchbooths which were fun too.

After we made a quick trip to Old Navy and then we went to lunch at Steak and Shake.  Then it was time for home and we all took naps.  (When I say we I mean me and Grayson.)

I hate to say it, but Chuck E Cheese might be a new family summer tradition.

I will say too, I was very impressed with how clean the place was and they also have this whole invisible stamp on your hand thing so no one can kidnap your children.  It was genius.

Great Grandparents come to visit...

Adam's grandparents came to visit a few weeks ago.  We haven't seen them in 3 years so it was great to spend a few days with them.  Hopefully we won't have to wait so long to see them again.

We went to the Thursday morning movie together.  The boys were so good! Soda and popcorn helped.
