General Conference Weekend

We love watching General Conference, especially since we can do it at home, in our pjs, with lots of snacks.

I always try to have some things on hand to keep the boys interested, like new notebooks for notes and things like that.  They also play General Conference Football where they earn points by tellings us what they learned after each talk.

This year I got out these old pictures that I had printed a long time ago to color.  Aiden loved them.  They entertained him for hours.  I wish I could remember where I printed them from because I've never seen him so engrossed in something before.

And if you give a baby a muffin, she's going to smash it into your carpet.

Thanksgiving 2013

We headed down to my parents on Thanksgiving.  The boys played in the Turkey Bowl with church so we left after that which made us get there a little later.

But we had a great time, great food, great family...what more could you ask for?

And my dad made the best peanut brittle he has ever made.  I ate my weight in it!
Miss Adley ready to go to Grandma's house

I just thought Matt and Lois looked cute together as they chatted.

 Happy girls.

 Boys

I need to add, Aiden and Jax are the bestests of Friends...when Charla was trying to leave Jax and Aiden were too busy wrestling and playing for him to go.  At one point Jax talked Aiden and as Aiden was getting up he started laughing and said, "Man I love that guy."

On Saturday, we drove up to KC to go to the temple.  Adam helped the youth do baptisms so I took the kids to a park to play during that time.  Little miss sure did like the swings.

Someone likes being the Bishop

Last week Adam spent mutual with the Miamaids and they happened to be making gingerbread houses that night.  I think he was pretty excited to get to make his very own.  And the boys were very excited when he let them start eating it all.

Weekend Update

We had a busy weekend!  Trunk or Treat at the church on Friday (I'm posting all those pics when I do Halloween), Saturday, my friend Sarah and I threw a baby shower for our friend Lauren (who had her baby a month early so we did a post-baby shower) and then Sunday was the Primary Program at church.

Lauren and little Sydney...Sarah knows how to decorate!
We had more food, which was super yummy, but we took pictures before the other food was out on the table.
I've never decorated anything pink before, I had to buy pink dye because I had ZERO!  But I love making sugar cookies, even though they make me crazy.

Sunday morning Aiden was so excited for his first Primary Program he decided he wanted his hair spiked up, first time ever.  He had his part memorized and really belted out all the songs.  I think he would be up there every week if they would let him.  He loves primary.

Damon and Xavier before church, all ready to go...
and Grayson wouldn't let me take his picture.
Being the smart one that I am, gave him a BLUE lollipop before church.  I don't know what I was thinking.  Luckily all the blue came off with a wetwipe before church.

We were able to attend the Cultural Celebration in Kansas City on Saturday.  It was a special event held in honor of the  Kansas City Temple Dedication that took place on Sunday.  President Monson was in attendance so I snapped a couple of blurry pics of him.
All of the youth in the temple district performed several dance combinations.  I think there was about 3200 participating.

These next pictures are of our youth and 2 other stakes.

As we were leaving we noticed all the security guys swarming around.  So we realized this must be the exit plan for President Monson.  We decided to stay around to see him, expecting him to just walk from the building to the car.  Had I known that he would pick our little spot to stop at I would have got my nice camera out of the bag but I was scared I was going to miss him by going and getting it.

Anyway, he walked over to the group we were in and talked to the kids, wiggled his ears and pointed out the different country flags that were on his tie.  There was a boy who could also wiggle his ears so Pres Monson pulled him beside him and had someone take their picture together.

DONE!

Sunday night these guys (and me) finished reading the Book of Mormon! It was a big accomplishment that we are guessing took about 4 1/2 years. We started with each of us reading one verse a night and then recently kicked it up and started reading 2 verses each.

Honestly, I'm posting this so we can keep better track. What do you think, will we be able to finish in 2 years now that we are reading twice as much?

Xavier's Baptism

Xavier was baptized yesterday, the 18th. My sister Carrie and her family were able to come, along with Adam's parents, two of his step brothers and families, and our friend Todd.
I might have to buy Xavier a white jumpsuit. I just think he looks so cute.
The family
Two of Xavier's friends were also baptized. It was a fun day!

Blessing Day

Adam blessed Grayson on Sunday at church. If you are not familiar with LDS Baby Blessings, here's an article I wrote about it. After we had everyone over for lunch. I would have liked to have taken more pictures of our guests but it just didn't happen so here's the list of everyone that could come: My parents, Carrie & Jordan, Brenden, Charla & Jax, Adam's parents, his grandma, Ben & Kelly, and our friends Todd and Kari. Also, Adam's oldest brother Kevin and his wife were able to join us from St Joe.

I love these shoes, I bought them for Aiden but his feet were always so big, I think he wore them once.

My boys, I don't know why this picture is so grainy. But next time I try to take a picture of all four of them, I'm going to do it before Uncle Brenden comes over!

Book of Mormon - Optimus Prime style

I found this website the other day and saw this CUTE tutorial on how to cover a paperback Book of Mormon. I decided to do one for Xavier since he has been a tad jealous of Damon's fancy scripture set.

We couldn't do the cute flower one that is featured in the tutorial so we did a "boy" version with Optimus Prime instead. Luckily, I had everything we needed for the project so it didn't cost us a thing. For the cover, I used Google Images and had Xavier pick out what picture of Optimus Prime he wanted. I had downloaded a font that was similar to the Transformers font for the title.

Xavier also asked me to make him a bookmark too, everyone else in the family has scriptures with the ribbon marker and he really wanted one as well. Before I glued the cover to the front, I glued a ribbon down the middle of the spine to be used as a marker. I think that is actually his favorite part.
Its a simple little project but really fun to do. If you want one, you can probably talk me into making one for you too...I'll even let you request your cartoon character.
